Buggerlugs the fire engine has just been purchased by 5 dodgy sailors who intend to drive from Goodwood in the UK to Ulanbataar in Mongolia all in the name of charity and ridiculousenes. If I make it they will be donating me to the Mongolian fire service who will hopefully be able to put me back into service as a fire engine..

Although always interested in painting (at Art School James Morrison and Alberto Morocco were unlucky to have me as a student) I only started seriously over the last five years. Along with a colleague, I exhibited at the Pittenweem Arts Festival in 2003, and although having a garage as a gallery, my initial sojourn into the art world proved to be successful.

The McGruer name is synonymous with boats and boating worldwide. McGruers came to Britain with William the Conqueror, were granted lands in Scotland by the Normans around Inverness and became the standard bearers for the Fraser clan. There are references in Inverness Library to a McGruer building a wooden warship for a French nobleman in the year 1296 and by the late 1800s Ewing and Gruer McGruer had established a boat business at Rutherglen near Glasgow.
